Jackson State’s Terrell named finalist for Jerry Rice Award

WACO, Texas- Jackson State return specialist/running back Travis Terrell Jr. has been named one of 25 finalists for the Jerry Rice Award by FCS Stats Perform on Monday afternoon.
 
The award is presented annually to the national freshman of the year in Division I FCS college football. In its 14th season, the award is named after the legendary Hall of Fame receiver, who played on the FCS level at Mississippi Valley State.
 
Terrell is among the nation's leaders in several categories including leading the nation in kickoff return touchdowns with two. He also ranks third in kickoff returns, third in punt returns, fourth in combined kick returns, 19th in all-purpose yards, 177th in rushing yards per game, and 180th in rushing yards.
 
The winner, to be selected by a national voting panel, will be announced on Dec. 5 and honored at the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Banquet on Jan. 4 in Frisco, Texas.
