ARLINGTON, Texas- Day one of the 2023 SWAC Women’s Bowling Tournament concluded on Friday after a highly competitive day of tournament action at the Bowling ITRC.
No. 5 seed Florida A&M started the day off with a win over No. 4 seed Texas Southern while No. 6 seed Jackson State defeated No. 3 seed Prairie View A&M during opening round action.
No. 1 seed Alabama State defeated Jackson State in the next round of competition and No. 5 seed Florida A&M defeated No. 1 seed Southern to advance in the Winner’s Bracket setting up a pivotal match-up between the only two undefeated teams left standing at the event.
Alabama State will face Florida A&M tomorrow at 1:00 pm CST with the winner of that match advancing to the tournament championship match.
No. 1 seed Southern will face No. 3 seed Prairie View A&M while No. 4 seed Texas Southern is scheduled to compete against No. 6 seed Jackson State in the Loser’s Bracket on Saturday at 9:00 am CST.
Both of those respective contests are set as elimination matches with the winner’s advancing to square off against each other at 1:00 pm CST.

Bowl TV. Fans and spectators are permitted to attend the event and admission will be free to the general public.
The following format will be used during the event:
Friday/Saturday/Sunday (Mega Match Format: Best-of-three) – Double Elimination
1. Five-person team match
2. Baker Total Pinfall
3. Best-of-seven Baker match play
Sunday (Championship Match) – Single Elimination
Best-of-seven
Tie-Breaker Format – During the tournament matches, the modified baker roll-off shall be used as the tie-breaking method.
